Defenseless Moments: A Different Perspective on Serious Injury
This book is based on a series of 12 short articles that were published in safety magazines all over the world. These articles–now chapters–were written and designed to provide a number of different perspectives–or paradigm shifts–in terms of how most people think about industrial safety, and how most people think about accidental injury causation in general. Perhaps the most serious injuries and unintentional fatalities, whether they occur at work, on the road or in the home/community.
Inside Out: Rethinking Traditional Safety Management Paradigms
Learn how to develop a positive safety culture from the individual to the entire company, and eventually in schools, sports teams, and youth groups in the community. The First part of the book is, how he discovered and created the concepts. It concludes by giving a detailed explanation of how to implement these concepts with your company.
BooBoo Bandits
As a father of 4 children, Larry saw the need for a platform to get SafeStart concepts across to children. In 2007 Larry wrote and produced ‘BooBoo Bandits,’ a short film designed for kids that teaches hazard recognition of hard, sharp, hot and slippery objects. In 2016, Larry went on to write and produce three more episodes of Boo Boo Bandits, introducing further dangers to children, such as drowning, suffocation, and poisoning, as well as teaching children about how human factors such as rushing, frustration, fatigue, and complacency increase their risk of getting hurt. The BooBoo Bandits program has expanded even further since, including toys, colouring books, and an accompanying app to help children recognize the Error States.
About Larry
Larry Wilson was working as a behavior-based safety (BBS) consultant when he determined the need for a program that went beyond the limitations of BBS. Following the launch of SafeStart, Larry has written two more courses; SafeTrack and SafeStart Performance, with takes the concepts: states, errors, and critical error reduction techniques beyond safety into quality, production, efficiency, and customer service.
